iSEAS partners insisted that the environmental and socioeconomic impacts — both in the fisheries sector as well as in the Galician Community — of all the proposed solutions will also be analyzed as another of the objectives of the project, with a focus on capacity building to improve management and discard reduction.

Moreover, they recalled that the EU considers discards as an unacceptable waste of resources, so, in compliance with the Common Fisheries Policy, it is essential to reduce and eliminate them and make the best use of the currently discarded biomass, in a sustainable way avoiding its misuse.
