Galician Ministry of the Sea (Galician Regional Government) criticizes Brussels for its slowness in solving the problem of fishing discards

Representatives of the Ministry of the Sea presented to the European Commission and the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions of Europe (CPMR) the problems they are detecting in the implementation of the zero discard policy. According to Galician Ministry, the origin of the problem would be in a mechanism of distribution of fishing quota deficient and outdated. On the basis of the above, the imbalances in the quota allocation system have caused that the EU loses approximately 1.8 billion EUR between 2008 and 2014.
